Linda Christensen, veteran teacher and director of the Oregon Writing Project at Lewis & Clark, advocates for writing in the classroom to promote social justice. In this video feature from the National Writing Project, Christensen discusses her work and what it means to teach writing across the margins of life.

Through her work at the Oregon Writing Project, Christensen helps teachers in Oregon discover a passion for writing and teaching writing. Her new book, Teaching for Joy and Justice, guides teachers on how to use writing as a tool for discussion, social justice, and equity in schools and aids teachers on developing creative curricula in the face of increasing standardization.
