Bob Gaillard, head men’s basketball coach, picked up his 500th career NCAA victory against George Fox (63-49) in February. He has been helping Lewis & Clark student-athletes reach their potential on the court since 1989, when he was hired to revitalize the then-struggling men’s basketball program. Since then, he has led the Pioneers to five consecutive NAIA Division II National Championship Tournaments and, after overseeing the transition to NCAA Division III, three consecutive national tournaments, including a final-eight berth in 2001–02.
