Science Without Limits Symposium, “The Value of Biodiversity”
Focused on making innovative scientific research accessible and relevant to a wide audience, the Science Without Limits Symposium seeks to increase participation in the physical and natural sciences among all groups, particularly those that have been historically underrepresented.
This year, Lewis & Clark will host two days of lectures and discussions focused on the value of biodiversity. The keynote speaker is neurobiologist Baldermero Olivera, distinguished professor of biology at the University of Utah. Olivera’s research into venomous cone snails has led to neuroscience and biomedical advances, including as the creation of a new painkiller.
The United Nations has declared 2010 as the Year of Biodiversity, celebrating the variety of life on Earth. The 2010 Science Without Limits Symposium will explore innovative research and contemporary questions related to biodiversity.
