The Indigenous Ways of Knowing (IWOK) program was been accepted as a member of the 2010 Uniting Communities program of the Western States Center. This program brings together the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community and communities of color in order to meaningfully engage on issues of racial justice and LGBT equality.
IWOK’s participation allows the program to better serve the needs of the LGBT/Two-Spirited community, and to better incorporate the issues of the community into existing and newly developed projects.
IWOK will be joining Adelante Mujeres, Black Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays Chapter, CAUSA, The Confederated Tribes of SIletz, Latino Network, and Reality Outreach/Umoja in this year-long program.
