Oregon Zoo Foundation Grant
The Future for Wildlife Grants program at the Oregon Zoo Foundation has awarded the College $2,718 in support of “Disentangling evolutionary relationships for Speyeria zerene hippolyta, the Oregon silverspot butterfly”. With Lewis & Clark students, Professor of Biology Paulette Bierzychudek and Associate Professor of Biology Greta Binford will refine and extend a preliminary genetic analysis done by Anne McHugh ‘10 to provide a definitive conclusion about evolutionary relationships among populations of the Oregon silverspot butterfly and its relatives. The Future of Wildlife Grants program supports field conservation projects in the Pacific Northwest and abroad. (August 2010)
