Fitness promoter, philanthropist, life trustee, and benefactor of Lewis & Clark, Dr. Robert B. Pamplin Jr. ‘64, ‘65, ‘66 is challenging the campus community to show what we’ve got on the pull-ups bar. The more we participate in the Pamplin Pull-Up Challenge, the more he donates to the L&C Athletics Department (up to $3,000).

The Pamplin Pull-Up Challenge, running Nov. 13-20, is open to all members of the Lewis & Clark community—students, alumni, faculty, staff, and trustees.

The following prizes are being offered for participants of all levels:
  • 0-4 pull-ups            $2 coupon to any Bon Appetit site on campus
  • 5-9                          $5 coupon to any Bon Appetit site on campus
  • 10-19                      Papa John’s pizza coupon
  • 20-up                      High Performance NIKE LS training shirt
  • most                       All the above plus $50 gift certificate at bookstore to the                                              winning male and female

The Pamplin Pull-Up Challenge begins at the football game on the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 13, and concludes at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19. Participants and winners will be recognized at the basketball game on Saturday, Nov. 20 (8 p.m. vs. Oglethorpe).

You can take your turn on the bar at the following times and places:

Nov. 13-14, Griswold Stadium, 1-4 p.m.
Nov. 15, 6-8 p.m. at men’s basketball game
Nov. 15-19, 12-1 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. at Pamplin Sports Center Fitness Center
Nov. 16-18, 8-9 a.m. PSC Fitness Center

On a recent visit to the L&C sports complex that bears his family’s name, Dr. Pamplin did 20 pull-ups. In his suit and tie. At age 69! Can you beat his mark? Even if we can’t beat him, we can sure join him—and show him that Lewis & Clark shares his commitment to fitness.
