On April 16, Lewis & Clark Law School will host the inaugural Judge Betty Roberts JD ‘66 Women in the Law Distinguished Visitor Program. Roberts will deliver the keynote address, and several distinguished panelists will present “Listening to the Past, Working for the Future–Celebrating Women in the Law.”

Roberts is considered a political trailblazer. During her 13 years as a legislator, she was instrumental in the passage of Oregon’s first legalized right to abortion and the state’s ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment as well as landmark environmental and land-use legislation. She was the first woman to serve on the Oregon Supreme Court (1982–86) as well as the Oregon Court of Appeals (1977–82).

This program is made possible through an endowment by Williams Love O’Leary & Powers.
