What’s up with Wireless?

The wireless portion of our campus network is going through a dramatic upgrade in order to accommodate the rapid growth of use over the past year.   At this time last year, we averaged around 500 wireless users at a time.  Just before leaving for break, we peaked at close to 1400 users at a time; a growth of almost 300%!
Part of the upgrade includes new access points that allow for connections using the faster IEEE 802.11n specification.  We hope to have all buildings upgraded within the year.
We are very excited to announce that with the addition of the Manor House and Facilities wireless networks, which should be completed shortly, all buildings will have wireless coverage on campus.  Looking forward, IT will be soliciting your feedback as we evaluate wireless coverage around campus to better serve the indoor areas as well as covering some commonly used outdoor areas as well.  For more information, please visit: http://go.lclark.edu/pionet .
