Kenneth H. Brinson, Jnr., was born and raised in Sanford, North Carolina and attended public schools there. He attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for undergraduate and graduate degrees and earned a doctor of philosophy degree at Pennsylvania State University, where he was a James Naddeo Scholar.

Professionally, Ken has been a middle school and high school teacher, coach, and administrator. He served on the faculty of the University of Texas at El Paso for three years and, most recently, on the faculty of North Carolina State University for thirteen years,  where he was Director of Distance Education, Director of Professional Internships, and Director of the North Carolina Principal Fellows. He also serves on the International Faculty of Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok, Thailand and on the Board of Advisers for the University of Technology in Jamaica.

Ken has taught and lectured across the United States and in China, Sweden, Jamaica, Canada, Mexico, Thailand, Zimbabwe, and at Oxford University in England.

Ken’s wife, Stephenie VanderMeer Brinson, is a Family Nurse Practitioner who owns and runs her own medical practice, Hope Family Medicine. His son, Kenneth III, attends the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is majoring in bio-chemistry and minoring in Spanish. His son, Cason, is a junior in high school and phenomenal soccer goalkeeper. Ken’s parents are retired in North Carolina; his mother was a school librarian and worked in special education and his father had a 34-year career as a public school superintendent.
