Students Engaged in Eco-Defense (SEED)

Students Engaged in Eco-Defense (SEED) is dedicated to creating a more sustainable and just world. Our focus is to bring green, sustainable practices to Lewis & Clark College and conduct outreach to the larger community.

We run the Lewis & Clark College Bee Garden, located on South Campus. Our garden includes 3 beehives that are maintained by students and serve to educate the community on the fascinating lives of bees and the important role that pollinators play in the environment and in our food systems. In the Spring and Fall, SEED’s student beekeepers host weekly hive inspections which are open to the community.

SEED also runs a free, sustainable detergent sheet refill machine, located on the upper level of Fowler Student Center, near the Fields Dining Hall entrance.
