My name is Daniela Zamora Alcaraz. I was born in Mexico City and at the age of 17, I had the amazing opportunity to attend UWC Mahindra College in India.
My experience in Mahindra College was incredibly rewarding and enriching. During those two years, I interacted and made meaningful friendships with people from different countries which allowed me to understand other cultures and widen my horizons.
What I enjoyed the most about Mahindra College was the ability to challenge myself in different subject areas. I consider that the atmosphere at Mahindra College was very encouraging which allowed students to try new things. In my case, I was able to discover new interests that I had never thought about. For example, I discovered my passion for Politics and Theater. Another thing I enjoyed about my experience in Mahindra College was living in India. Getting the chance to be immersed in a very rich culture is one of the most fascinating memories of my experience. By travelling around India over the two years, I was able to understand and appreciate its customs and traditions. Likewise, I also had the fortune to not only experience India but other countries like Nepal, China, and Portugal where I could learn more about other cultures.
In this journey in UWC, one of the things that made my experience very meaningful was the support from very passionate and committed teachers to whom I am very grateful.
I applied to Lewis & Clark College because of its focus on diversity and civic leadership which I consider to be very important values for the development of engaged and open-minded students. During these four upcoming years, I wish to major in International Affairs and Theater which are two subject areas I am very passionate about. Moreover, I hope to be able to engage in different student activities in the school like dancing which is a hobby I’ve had since a was little.
I am looking forward to the new opportunity that L&C has offered me to grow as a person and I am excited for this new adventure.
