Yuko Kodama BA '91

Yuko Kodama BA ’91 is the news director at 91.3 KBCS-FM, serving the Seattle area. Last fall, she placed third in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism’s 2017 Katherine Schneider Journalism Award for Excellence in Reporting on Disability competition. Her two-piece segment (titled “Dorian Wants Transit Policy Toward Disabled Persons to Change”) chronicled the experiences of a wheelchair user trying to navigate public transportation in Seattle. Kodama’s work has been featured on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered, Making Contact, and National Native News. She particularly enjoys making radio more accessible to the community.

Yuko Kodama BA ’91 is the news director at KBCS, a listener-supported radio station in Bellevue, Washington. She has been at the station since 2008, first as producer of a syndicated regional radio program, Listen Up Northwest, then as operations director.
