What three words would you use to describe L&C?

Close, individualized, busy

What has been your favorite class so far (title and professor)? How did it expand your knowledge?

Structural Biochemistry with Janis Lochner. It taught me that developing analytical thinking skills and being able to apply things I’ve learned before is more important than memorization. It made me feel more capable in my abilities to learn new things.

What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?

The community, the campus, and the professors.

Who are your role models at Lewis & Clark?

Staff on campus: Angela Buck, interim director of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement; Harold McNaron, director of Student Leadership and Service; and my professors, Casey Jones, Naiomi Cameron, and Sweta Suryanarayan.

Have you had the opportunity to do research with a professor?

Yes! Biomedical research on stents for heart disease with Assistant Professor Casey Jones.

What did you learn from that experience?

I learned how to be persistent and understand not only how to conduct science research, but also why every step is taken.

What’s your best Lewis & Clark memory so far?

Going on, and then leading, the Economic Justice New Student Trip.

Do you have a job on campus? If so, how do you fit work into your schedule?

I work as a student coordinator in the Student Leadership and Service office. I have flexible hours and get to make my own schedule.

What advice do you have for prospective students?

No decisions are final, there’s always time to change.
