Gateways at Lewis & Clark

The intent of this schematic package is to establish a strong and cohesive identity for Lewis & Clark College from Terwilliger Boulevard and S.W. Palatine Hill Road. The use of stone markers and low walls along the roadways will tie the campus "estate" character of the campus. Creating a sense of hierarchy amongst the various vehicular and pedestrian access points is also critical to legibility. By building upon the character that exists within the historical campus, we can create simple and logical linkages to the newer additions of the College. These gateways will enhance the first and future impressions of the College from the road for visitors and members of the College community while lessening the confusion that currently exists.
