PROJECT GOALS - 2/27/01

1. Reflect the spirit of the Social Sciences at Lewis and Clark College.

2. Provide flexible and adaptable classrooms that meet the needs of students and faculty while anticipating the evolving use of technology.

3. Provide light filled offices that meet the needs of faculty for research, study and student consultations.

4. Create spaces that encourage and accommodate informal interaction between faculty and students.

5. Create spaces that encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and divisional identity while retaining departmental focus.

6. Consolidate administrative functions to provide for flexibility and sharing of resources.

7. Anchor the development of the academic quad in accordance with the master plan.

8. Consider sustainability in all decisions, including use of natural light, energy systems, material selection, and construction practices. Minimize long-term operations and maintenance costs
