Terwilliger-Palater Intersection Improvements

Completed October 2002

The College must either post a bond with the City or improve the Palater/Terwilliger Intersection prior to any increase in floor area at either the Law School or on the main campus. Therefore this project must precede any other construction project that will add square footage to the College inventory. The project is required by the City Office of Transportation Engineering and is intended to rectify several traffic operations issues at the intersection. There are three possible alternatives for corrective action; a traffic circle round-about as shown in the master plan site development drawing; a four-way stop sign controlled intersection; or a four-way traffic signal controlled intersection in addition to correcting the traffic operation deficiencies. All of these alternatives will provide critical pedestrian safety improvements at this location. Final selection of the best alternative is subject to detailed engineering work, discussions with City traffic engineer's, and input from the College and the surrounding Community.
