Deconstruction of Huddleson I & II
Deconstruction has begun on the Huddleson I & II houses, once home to ISALC, which now occupies the basement of Odell. The deconstruction of the two Huddleson homes is in preparation for the new Residence Halls that are being built and will be ready for occupancy in Fall 2002.
The Deconstruction process is an exciting process that holds the same commitment the college has towards Green Building Processes. The deconstruction is being performed by DeConstruction Services a branch of The ReBuilding Center in Portland, Oregon. They are a non-profit organization which is environmentally and socially responsible to our community. Choosing deconstruction over demolition displays good stewardship for the environment and benefits local grass-root initiatives. Other benefits are; being able to donate the reusable materials to a worthy cause, save money on dumping fees, and keeping excess reusable materials out of the dumping grounds.
Along with Hud I & II being deconstructed, the CERA Studio will be deconstructed to prepare for the new Residence Halls. The deconstruction process will take about two weeks.
Facilities Services will keep this site updated on new information and pictures to watch the process of deconstruction.
