Today, I look back through vague but wonderful memories of a very beautiful part of my life. The last years in Mahindra United World College of India passed in a blink of an eye but the memories are etched in my heart forever. Before MUWCI my life was monotonous and followed a robotic schedule. The most interesting things that happened were school picnics and family outings.  But at that time that seemed enough. But after the past two years I have realized how I was missing in life. I did not know what ‘spontaneity’ and ‘personality’ were. I thought I knew who I was. I was a girl. My name was Parul Sohal. I studied in Carmel Convent School. Such things defined me. But after spending the last two years in MUWCI, I have a better sense of who I am.

Through the experiences and relationships I gained there I came out as a mature and a changed person. Today, with my head held up high, I can declare that MUWCI has made me more caring and sensitive to the needs of others.

After the car accident in which I lost both my parents the thought of leaving my family far behind gave me sudden chills and heartbreaking pain. But after reaching MUWCI, I realized that sometimes to gain something in life you have to sacrifice something else. My family and I have a more pure and understanding relationship due to the UWC values instilled in me. Not only that, I also gained a new family, in the form of the UWC family.

I hope Lewis and Clark does the same for me. I am not looking for only educational progress but searching for all around development in my personality. I want to be a smart and intellectual person who is also receptive and accommodating. Lewis and Clark College till now has provided a very welcoming atmosphere for me. Right from the beginning I felt comfortable to leave all the familiar faces behind and become a part of a larger community. The continuous yet patient replies to my never-ending queries and e-mails by everyone have left me amazed at the kindliness of the staff and students there.

If there is something science can only understand, engineering can make that thing come to life. Finding new solutions to problems is something I really wish to do and what better way is there to do it than studying engineering. I plan to major in Computer Science because, the computer I feel, is a separate world. It has its own rules and even its own language but when these are on your tips, it can help you create even the unimaginable.

I hope that Lewis and Clark will provide the same environment to expand my horizons and explore myself as a person with the help of the people around. Leading a life like a song on repetition is quite boring. Coming forth and exploring each and every aspect of growing up is the way I prefer to lead my life.
