Davis United World College Scholar
United World College of South East Asia (Singapore)
I recently graduated from UWC of South East Asia in Singapore. Before moving to Singapore and attending UWCSEA, I lived in Mumbai, a city on the coast of India. Mumbai is a fairly busy industrial city that was always alive and full of people, even in the late hours of the night. When I moved to Singapore, I experienced a sort of culture-shock, since Singapore, while a fairly busy city in its own right, was nothing like I’d experienced before.
Being part of UWC of South East Asia, and the UWC program as a whole, has changed my perspective on life completely. The difference between my life and views when I lived in India, and now after studying in UWC, is quite shocking. In UWC, I got to meet a variety of people from all over the world, people I would never have met otherwise and who have had a lasting influence on me. Some of the people I’ve met have become my best friends, and even though we are spread across the world at the moment, I know this bond will never be broken. In UWC, I found my passion for theatre and psychology, two subjects that interest me greatly.
When choosing colleges to attend, I picked Lewis & Clark because of its emphasis on community and environment, its beautiful campus and strong academics. At Lewis & Clark, I hope to get a great education, meet lots of new and interesting people, and become part of the L & C community.
