10. Deadline to sign up for Conversation Groups: The conversation group is collaboration between the TCK group and the Academic English Studies (AES) Department. International students studying in the AES program meet with U.S. student volunteers to talk about topics of mutual interest. The groups help international students make U.S. friends and practice their English while the U.S. students learn cross-cultural skills. We are looking for U.S. students to be group leaders and for International Students that want to meet new people and practice their conversation skills. Email Osaebea Amoako (TCK Intern) at  tck@lclark.edu to get involved.

11. Race Monologues meeting, 6:30pm, Stamm West: The Race Monologues is one of the keynote events for the Ray Warren Multicultural Symposium. In poetry and prose, Lewis & Clark students express their understandings of race, ethnicity, and identity. Each year a new group of students writes an original series of monologues to share powerful feelings and experiences. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, make sure you attend the planning meeting at 6:30pm in Stamm West. Email Kemiyondo Coutinho with any questions at kkc@lclark.edu

15. TCK Movie Night (Discussion afterward): Come and watch and discuss The Namesake with us. The Namesake is the story of American-born Gogol, the son of Indian immigrants, who wants to fit in among his fellow New Yorkers, despite his family’s unwillingness to let go of their traditional ways. This compelling tale of a search for identity is completely applicable to the experiences most TCKs go through. Snacks Provided.

20: TCK Thursday, 7:00-8:00pm, ISS/OMA/STE Suite: Come and hang out with us as we chat with Valerie White, the L&C Ombudsperson, who is herself a TCK. If you don’t know what an Ombudsperson is… well neither do we but you can come and ask her if you’d like. Valerie is an amazing person with a fascinating life story who in just one casual meeting will make you learn more and feel better about yourself than you might think possible. So come meet her, eat a delicious treat.
