Question: As a development officer, what else do I need to do besides entering contact reports in the Raiser's Edge?

Answer: Despite the usefulness of contact reports, development officers are required to update the major gift tracking system by filling out an on-line prospect tracking reclassification form. Only by looking at classification and prospect status will we know what group of prospects (major or planned gift prospects) they belong to and whether they are moving along the cultivation cycle.

In addition, when your prospect is in the focused cultivation stage, you should create a proposal in his/her Raiser's Edge record.
