  Yangsi Rinpoche was recognized as the reincarnation of Geshe Ngawang Gendun, a renowned scholar and practitioner from Western Tibet, at the age of six. Rinpoche is Spiritual Director of Dharma Friendship Foundation in Seattle, Washington. Rinpoche is the author of Practicing the Path: A Commentary on the Lamrim Chenmo, published in 2003 by Wisdom Publications. Rinpoche teaches in English, and is admired wherever he travels for his unique presentation of the Dharma, his interest in and enthusiasm for Western culture, and his evident embodiment of the wisdom and compassion of the Buddhist path.

  On Monday, March 4th the Interfaith Council Souljourn series is offering an opportunity for students to visit a Russian Orthodox Church.  We will meet at 4:45 PM at the lower level of the chapel and car pool to the church where we will meet Fr. • 7:00pm: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration
  The Celebration begins Monday, January 21st at 7pm in the Council Chamber.  We will screen Dr. King’s speech “I Have a Dream” and then have a silent march to the Chapel at 7:30 PM where jazz musician Devin Phillips will perform and we will have readings from Dr. King followed by a candlelight vigil.  This year’s theme is Bending Towards Justice.  Bring a friend and celebrate this important holiday by honoring the legacy of Dr. King.  
  
  We will continue to remember Dr. King’s work for equality and justice throughout the week.  Events will be held daily at 7pm in the Stamm Dining Room in Templeton Student Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  All these events are free and open to the public.

  The 40th annual Service of Sacred Song & Verse features traditional advent scripture readings, congregational singing of Christmas carols and wonderful holiday and sacred music. The theme this year is “Celebrating Stories and Songs of the Season.” There will be vocal performances by the Lewis & Clark Cappella Nova with the Alumni choir and the Women’s Chorus. An organ prelude and postlude along with brass music played by Columbia Brass will also highlight the program.  Come enjoy a wonderful celebration of the season!

  “Bringing Us Together: Traditions of Hope & Joy from Around the World” is the theme for our annual Service of Sacred Song & Verse that features traditional advent scripture readings, congregational singing of Christmas carols and wonderful holiday and sacred music. There will be vocal performances by the Lewis & Clark Cappella Nova and Women’s Chorus, and the Alumni Choir will be joining in as well. An organ prelude and postlude along with brass music played by Columbia Brass will also highlight the program.  Come enjoy a wonderful celebration of the season!

  Kristen Williams and Approaching Thunder mates return to Lewis & Clark on Tuesday, November 9. Having recently experienced geological, financial, and spiritual shaking in New Zealand (Aoteaora), Kristen will engage the LC community and friends with stories and insights in an open discussion over dessert in the Trail Room at 7:00 PM Tuesday night.  He’ll inspire us to understand the times that we live in as an opportunity for grounding, spiritual transformation, and new paradigms. Knotty questions are welcome.
  
  Kristen Williams is the Principal of the Annesbrook Leadership College in Nelson, New Zealand, an experiential college in the Jesus way.  He leads the group Approaching Thunder, and speaks extensively to young people in New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.  Kristen is a catalyst for awakening individual destiny, and an out–of-the-box commentator on life.
