Amre Moussa, Secretary General of the Arab League
Arab Nations: A Force for Peace and Prosperity in World Affairs

Sunday, September 22, 2002, 7 p.m.
Chiles Center, University of Portland

Amre Moussa has had a long and distinguished career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, including 10 years as Egypt’s Foreign Minister. He is considered the most respected spokesman in the Arab world, one who understands the true sentiment of the public. In May 2002, he became Secretary General of the Arab League with the unanimous endorsement of all 22-member states. His mission is to bring the Arab League through a metamorphosis—to reshape the confederation of Arab nations and vastly broaden its function in international affairs, including economic development and opening the cultural dialogue with the West.
