World renowned for his interpretations of Beethoven and Field, Irish pianist Dr. John O'Conor makes his Portland performance debut on Wednesday, February 26, 8 p.m., Evans Music Center, with a recital inaugurating the College's Distinguished Pianist Residency.

O'Conor's recital includes John Field's Sonata No. 1 in E flat, Nocturne No. 5 in B flat, Nocturne No. 6 in F and Nocturne No.18 in E, Chopin's Nocturne in C sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 1, Nocturne in E minor, Op. 72, No. 1, and Nocturne in E flat major, Op. 9, No. 2, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, Scriabin's Prelude and Nocturne for the Left Hand, Op. 9 and Schubert's Four Impromptus, D. 899.

As part of the residency, O'Conor will give two master classes Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2 from 1-4:15 p.m. and a lecture on Sunday, March 2 at 4:30 p.m. titled Developing the Young Pianist. All events are open to the public.


O'Conor at pianoRecital Tickets: $20 general; $15 LC employees/seniors/student with current ID. Festival seating. Stage seating for LC students only, $5. Available at College Bookstore or Fastixx 503-224-8499 (service fee applies).

Tickets for master classes/lecture are $5 at the door. Students with current ID may attend the master classes/lecture free of charge.
