Gil Seeley, James W. Rogers Professor of Music at Lewis & Clark College, celebrates 30 years as artistic director for Oregon Repertory Singers by presenting his dream repertoire as the choir’s opening concert for the 2005-2006 Season. The journey begins with an Italian madrigal by Monteverdi and music from Germany and Estonia. Then it’s on to the Americas featuring composers from the West, folksongs and a touch of Brazil. Gil ends the journey with a joyous new composition he wrote honoring the life of Nelson Mandela. Oregon Repertory Singers is Lewis & Clark College’s Choir in Residence.
