Sheila Klein is an artist whose work cuts through the boundaries of sculpture, architecture, theatre, fashion, textile design, and installation. Her work is whimsical and interactive; visitors will be able to crawl into her Floatzone Capsules, inhabit her Bonnet Nave, and lounge on her Phoam Mat Island. Klein’s work was first introduced to Portland audiences by her recent 2002 public art installation, Show and Hide, located in the window of Multnomah County’s Mead Building (421 SW Fifth Ave.). Well known for her architectural installations, Klein’s work can be found in the Los Angeles subway system; she is currently working on a project for the Houston airport. Klein resides in the Skagit Valley of Washington State.
