Inspired by life in post-9/11 New York City, Stephen Petronio’s newest work City of Twist paints a series of portraits of individuals “randomly searching for a sense of community in a broken and twisted city.” With visceral, tumultuous movement, bold costume and set design and hard-driving original music, this compelling work by one of White Bird audiences’ favorite choreographers bears out Petronio’s reputation as “the most fearlessly inventive dancer-choreographer of his generation” (San Francisco Examiner).
