At the age of 24, this Cambridge University graduate published her first novel entitled White Teeth (2000). According to the New York Times, this book revealed “a preternaturally gifted new writer [with] a voice that’s street smart and learned, sassy and philosophical all at the same time.” Zadie Smith received the Whitbread Award for White Teeth, and will release her second novel, The Autograph Man, in September 2002.
