ASLC Readership Program

New York Times

Each day 200 free papers are distributed across campus by students Kevin Pearce and Martin Frye. The program was designed to provide students with a greater awareness of the world beyond Palatine Hill. Professors have also integrated the paper into their curriculum, and this has encouraged more thoughtful discussion across campus, This program is funded through student fees, and the General Allocations Board.

Speaker

The New York Times Readership Program provides students one free speaker New York Times journalists every year. This year the Executive Council along with student imput requested a fashion speaker. The New York Times is sending their premier fashion journalist Cathy Hoyt. SHe covers all of the fasnion weeks worldwide including the New York fashion week, Milan fashion week and Paris Fashion Week.

We would love student imput for interesting topics and/or journalist for next year 2007-2008! Please note, however, that Thomas Freedman must be requested three years in advance.

Oregonian

Free Oregonian newspapers are also available to students throughout the campus. This portion of the Readership program provides students more local news and information. The Oregonian has generously donated 200 free issues every day of the week.
