GEND 298 - Gender in the City: Internship
Taught by: Deborah Heath Content: Community-based service learning, exploring gender issues in human services or advocacy organizations through a supervised internship. Theoretical and methodological frameworks for participatory action research will be explored through readings, class discussion, and writing assignments.
Two two-hour seminars will be held each week to integrate the learning students gain from 15 hours per week of internship, as well as research and readings. Internship placement will be mutually determined by faculty, agency and student. Prerequisite: Sociology/Anthropology 100 or 110, sophomore standing, or consent of instructor.
