Karen Gross

Assistant Professor of English

KarenGrossA 1997 University of Southern California graduate, Gross received her Ph.D. from Stanford in 2005 and joined the Lewis & Clark faculty the same year.

Her research interests include the reception of classical texts, medieval literary theory and education, medieval biography, humanism, and the relationship between literature and the visual arts.

This spring, Professor Gross won the presitigious Graves Award in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments in teaching the humanities. This award will support work on her current book on the intellectual exchanges between England and Italy during the later Middle Ages, focusing on Chaucer and his Italian sources.
