You, Lewis & Clark, and the Web
Hello! I am slowly building a resource page to help you with common Web-related issues. We have two main ways of doing websites here at Lewis & Clark: -
"Tilde ~" accounts, which use fully editable HTML pages - Trillium accounts, which use templates and require little or no HTML expertise
1. "Tilde ~" Accounts
These accounts are created by Information Technology and will use the same login/password as your email. Your HTML files will sit in a College webserver folder called CWIS, and you will need to use file transfer protocol (FTP) to update your files. Programs like Dreamweaver and Fetch are built to help you with FTP. 2. Trillium Accounts
The College's content management system is designed to help you create and maintain websites quickly and easily. Though it is simple, it can be confusing when you begin. First off, New Media has created this very handy Trillium Reference Guide. It can answer a lot of questions. There are some set rules about the width of images in Trillium, though you would be hard pressed to find them. Here are a few I have discovered:
- Right column images:
limit 170px wide
- Center column (w/a right column) images:
limit 380px wide
- Center column (w/out right column) images:
limit 570px wide
- Spotlight photos:
60w x 90h

New Media has a utility called Form Builder that helps you build simple email forms by creating HTML code you can paste into Trillium. For more detailed help, read the Using the Mail Form Utility guide.
