Gabrielle Capone Ten Thousand Villages Fair Trade Presentation and Sale
For a very special and unique Missing Pieces and Whole Stories event, the Oregon Center welcomes Ten Thousand Villages to the South Campus Conference Center for a presentation and Fair Trade Market on March 2, 2006.
Ten Thousand Villages provides vital, fair income to Third World people by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. The organization works with artisans who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed. This income helps pay for food, education, health care or housing.
They are a founding member of the International Fair Trade Association (IFAT) and a member of the Fair Trade Federation (FTF), both of which aim to improve the livelihood of people in developing countries and to change structures of international trade.
At this unique presentation, Gabrielle Capone will introduce us to Ten Thousand Villages’ mission and some of the hundreds of artisans they support throughout the world.
Join us at Noon for the Fair Trade presentation, and from 11 to 3, Ten Thousand Villages volunteers will be on hand to sell some of these wonderful products. See www.tenthousandvillages.com.
