The Alaska Native Knowledge Network (ANKN) is an AKRSI partner designed to serve as a resource for compiling and exchanging information related to Alaska Native knowledge systems and ways of knowing. It has been established to assist Native people, government agencies, educators and the general public in gaining access to the knowledge base that Alaska Natives have acquired through cumulative experience over millennia. It has been established to assist Native people, government agencies, educators and the general public in gaining access to the knowledge base which Alaska Natives have acquired through cumulative experience over millennia.ANKN compiles education and cultural resources for Native peoples of Alaska and the world at large. Publishes numerous Native based books, guidelines for schools on culturally sensitive teaching practices, CDs, posters, and other materials. Network also interfaces with international indigenous groups.
7. Northwest Indian Applied Research Institute Evergreen State College The Institute's mission is to serve the interests of the area's tribes, by applying the principles of applied research, putting theory into practice, and making available college and community resources to address the needs of Washington State tribes and Native people. Through the development of the Northwest Indian Applied Research Institute, the college has taken its commitment to the indigenous people of Western Washington one step further. The Institute enables Evergreen to assist local tribes to meet their economic, governance and resource goals. At the same time, the Institute provides additional, real-life learning opportunities for Evergreen students. The Institute serves as a clearinghouse for resources and guidance to tribes regarding tribal governance, natural resource management, economic sustainability, and cultural revitalization.
