SHARIF ABDULLAH is the adjunct faculty who accompanied the Tsunami Response Initiative’s August trip to Sri Lanka. He and a number of students who were on that trip spoke about their experiences.

Sharif is a leading proponent and catalyst for inclusive social, cultural and spiritual transformation. He is the founder and current president of Commonway Institute, dedicated to the creation of a society that is in line with “deepest spiritual values -- a society that works for all”. Commonway is designed to build inclusivity, understanding and civic engagement between diverse groups of people. In addition to being a highly regarded inspirational and motivational speaker, Sharif is also an award-winning author. Creating a World That Works for All is the winner of the Book of the Year Award (Current Events) from the Independent Book Publishers Association (2000).
