Framed Glacier Photo
The artist took this striking photo during an expedition to Alaska in 2005, while flying over Denali. It was late August and the Muldrow glacier was beginning to break up, marking the end of the climbing season. When the pilot flew in closer for a -better look at the climbing routes, banking the plan, deep pools of melt -forming in hundred-foot crevasses became visible. The shot -reflects both the beauty of the glacier and its fragility in the face of a changing climate.
