Kari Greene:
How often in your life do you get the opportunity to witness a profound and lasting positive change in someone? As a Tulen self defense instructor, I have the chance to see that kind of transformation every time I take part in a self defense course. And these personal changes will have a ripple effect throughout our world – women calmly and confidently moving through their lives, kids knowing they have the right to say “no” and teen girls proudly using their voices to keep themselves safe. What a wonderful world!!! I’ve been an instructor in the kids program for over five years (I play a mean game of freeze tag!) and am a first degree black belt. I do research and evaluation for the Oregon Public Health Division, and I love spending time running with my dogs through the woods, cooking up a big meal, and singing at the top of my lungs.

He also spends much of his free time traveling to various climbing destinations around the United States and abroad. His philosophy on climbing is that it “is not about competing against others. Instead you are pushing your own limits and cheering on others to do the same. Climbing allows a person to find out what their mind and body is capable of achieving. This sport requires both mental and physical toughness, [and] can take you to some very beautiful places around the world. No matter your skill level, climbing is a fun sport that can be enjoyed by all!”
