The paperless pay advice can be found on Web Advisor under the Employees tab. However, in order to be able to access this feature you must let Payroll know that you want to switch from a paper advice to the paperless pay advice. This can be done by completing a Paperless Pay Advice form available at the Payroll Office and on the Business Office web page.
Advantages of the Paperless Pay Advice
SAVE TREES. Even if you decide to print a copy of the advice, we will still save the envelope that contains the paper advice.
SAVE YOUR TIME. There will be no need to go to Templeton to pick up your advice and no need to come in to the College if you are on vacation or away from campus for other reasons.
NEVER LOSE AN ADVICE. All paperless advices will be available on Web Advisor for the current year plus two additional years.
ACCESS YOUR ADVICE FROM ANYWHERE. You will be able to access your advice from any computer that is connected to the internet. Print out the advice while you are at the bank negotiating a loan!
SAVE PAYROLL TIME. Paper advices must be folded by hand and stuffed into envelopes by hand. This takes a significant amount of time that could be used more productively.
SAVE STUDENT ACCOUNTS’ (formerly Cashier’s Office) TIME. Handing out paper pay advices takes time that could be used more productively.
ENHANCE THE PERCEPTION THAT LEWIS & CLARK IS A “GREEN” INSTITUTION. Many parents, students, donors value the opportunity to transact with an organization that cares about the environment.
REMEMBER PAPERLESS PAY ADVICES ARE AVAILABLE ONLY TO THOSE WHO USE DIRECT DEPOSIT!
Advantages of Direct Deposit
PAPERLESS PAY ADVICES. Now you can also receive all the advantages of the paperless advice. You could still choose the paper advice, but why would you.
SAVE YOUR TIME. There will be no need to go to Templeton to pick up your check and no need to come in to the College if you are on vacation or away from campus for other reasons.
ALWAYS GET YOUR MONEY ON PAYDAY. There will be no need to get to your bank on payday in order to deposit your check. The money will already be there. And we can distribute your net pay over several accounts at the same institution.
NEVER LOSE A PAY CHECK. Although we can replace a lost check, it does take time. And you would be surprised how much money we turn over to the State each year because of checks that have never been cashed.
SAVE PAYROLL TIME AND MONEY. Checks must be folded by hand and stuffed into envelopes by hand. This takes a significant amount of time that could be used more productively. In addition it is necessary to use a special MICR encoding ink when printing checks. This ink is relatively expensive and check stock paper is more costly than plain paper (which might be used by the employee to print out the paperless pay advice, if necessary).

DIRECT DEPOSIT REIMBURSEMENTS. In the not too distant future, we hope to be able to use direct deposit for reimbursements. This would only be available to those who use direct deposit for their pay. It would only make sense to do this if we have a significant portion of our employees using direct deposit.

Forms to start direct deposit and/or switch to paperless pay advices should be returned to the Payroll Office by the 8th of the month in order to ensure that the request will be effective for that month.
