Campus Update September 12, 2001
Yesterday over 1300 Lewis & Clark community members gathered in Pamplin
Sports Center to reflect upon and discuss the horrific events of the day.
Additionally, over 50 people came together later in the evening for a
meditation/interfaith service in Agnes Flanagan Chapel. Requests for
information on how to donate blood have also been steady.
These are illustrations of the strength of our community. As our thoughts
will remain focused on the events in New York City and Washington, D.C. in
the days ahead, please be aware of the following:
"Contemplation, Conversation, and Mutual Support"--A Community Gathering at
12 noon in Agnes Flanagan Chapel on Sept. 12, 13, and 14 (Wednesday,
Thursday, and Friday) to reflect on the tragic events of Tuesday. Please
contact Mark Duntley, Dean of the Chapel, for more information
(x7082/duntley@lclark.edu).
The American Red Cross in Portland reports that they are still at capacity
with blood donors, but that the need for donations will continue through
next week. They recommend scheduling a donation appointment rather than
dropping in. The Red Cross Donation Center can be reached at (503)
284-4040. The largest donation center is located next to Legacy Emanuel
Hospital (Kerby St. Exit off of I-405N). Please contact the Center for
Service and Work at x7114 for more information on volunteer and donation
efforts that are underway at the College.
Finally, please know that the Counseling Center staff are available (on the
lowest level of Templeton Student Center, adjacent to the Health Center,
x7160) each day. During non-business hours they are on-call and can be
reached via the Office of Campus Safety (x7855) or through Resident
Directors or Resident Assistants.
Thank you.
