Please be aware of the following opportunities to assist with relief efforts in New York and D.C.

BENEFIT CONCERTS THIS FRIDAY

If you would like to support disaster relief efforts while sharing an evening of unforgettable music with your friends, please come to one of the benefit concerts this Friday, September 21, at 7:30pm or 10pm in Agnes Flanagan Chapel.

The concerts feature well-known Northwest recording artists Michael Allen Harrison, piano and Aaron Meyer '95, violin, whose original compositions range from intense movie scores to passionate arrangements for piano, violin, orchestra, ballet, jazz, fusion, New Age, pop, and contemporary vocals and instrumentals.

All ticket proceeds from the concerts and 20% of all album sales will benefit the American Red Cross for disaster relief in New York City, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania and people in need around the world through Jubilee Network Oregon, a nonprofit organization connecting Oregonians to a worldwide movement seeking to cancel the outstanding international debt of impoverished nations.

Tickets are $5 each for L&C students (CAS, GRAD, LAW); $8 for L&C employees; and $10 for the general public. You may purchase your ticket(s) in advance at the College Bookstore or Friday evening at the door. Festival seating only, so come early. Parking is free on campus after 7pm on Friday.

For more about the concerts, see http://www.lclark.edu/org/artslive or contact Michael Ford, Associate Vice President for Campus Life at x7216 or mford@lclark.edu.

OPPORTUNITIES TO ASSIST VIA THE RED CROSS

The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross is reaching out to colleges throughout the Portland community in an effort to generate more support for all disaster relief efforts.

Even though we as Oregonians may be thousands of miles from the tragic events in New York and in Washington D.C., there are still many ways we can make a difference and come together as a community to help our nation recover. The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross is here to assist those who want to act locally to affect national change.

For whatever you can give, your generosity and support are greatly appreciated. Together, we are saving lives.

TO GIVE BLOOD:
The local response to the attack on America continues to result in blood donations at a volume that doubles the number the regional Red Cross normally collects daily. Please schedule an appointment to give by calling 1-800-GIVE-LIFE. Walk-ins are welcome, but the wait may be longer. We thank your for your patience as our volunteers do their best to accommodate the incredible influx of donors.

The Portland Donor Center is located at 3131 N. Vancouver Avenue. Please call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to verify blood donation hours, as they vary throughout the week.

TO VOLUNTEER:
For those of you who are interested in training to volunteer on a more permanent basis within our organization, we will train you to become a disaster responder, first aid or youth instructor, blood drive assistant, or to fill our other volunteer needs. These volunteers can work part-time, full-time or on an on-call basis whenever the need arises. The first step is to attend a volunteer orientation. Day, evening and weekend orientations are scheduled every month.

To volunteer on any level, call 503-284-1234 ext. 288 or email at volunteer@redcross-pdx.org.

FINANCIAL DONATIONS:
Your financial donations will go towards aiding the rescue efforts of local Red Cross members as they head to the East coast to set up shelters, feed rescuers and those affected by this disaster, offer disaster mental health counseling, help track down missing people, and much more. In addition, it will ensure that local disaster relief will continue in an uninterrupted manner.

Online: visit http://www.redcross-pdx.org and follow the links to make a secure credit card donation or email donations@redcross-pdx.org.
