Position Announcement

 

ESL Instructor, Academic English Studies, Lewis & Clark College, Portland, OR.

Effective Dates: Fall Semester, 2007

Responsibilities:

Full-time instructors in AES are responsible for teaching a minimum of fifteen course hours per week assigned by the director, in consultation with the AES Curriculum Committee. All AES faculty members post and observe office hours and serve as academic advisors to AES students. In addition to classroom and advising commitments and committee assignments, instructors are expected to participate in some AES-sponsored student activities.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree; preferred fields TESL/TEFL
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural awareness, preferably based on at least two years of overseas experience.
  • Minimum of two years full-time ESL teaching experience in higher education.
  • Working knowledge of a foreign language.
  • Experience in ESL course development.

Preference will be given to individuals with experience, research, and/or expertise in computer assisted language learning, assessment, and content-based language instruction.
