Announcements:

• Homework #6 (Ch 9) is graded, and the key is online
• Pick up lab handouts--NOTE that you will need to start a 5 ml overnight culture sometime today, and you'll need to use it to start a 50 ml overnight culture sometime Tuesday
• We'll start chapter 11 on Wednesday--you may want to start reading ahead
• Homwork #8 (Ch 10) will be posted online today or tomorrow, and will be due at 5 pm next Monday, November 6

Students should be able to…

1. Explain the rationale behind the experiments outlined in Jacob et al. How could operator mutants be differentiated from other types of lac mutants, and why would the isolation of operator mutants be interesting and useful?
2. Answer and/or discuss any of the questions in homework #7 with clarity and confidence
