is a tool that can enhance both your teaching and research. New hardware
and software that facilitates or strengthens the learning process is
constantly emerging. The Information Technology Division places a high
priority on partnering with faculty to integrate technology into their
curricula. We do this in a number of ways:
In order to to make it easier for faculty to initiate a project with Information Technology, we have developed Divisional Liaisons. Hopefully the Divisional Liaisons will help eliminate the frustration of not knowing who to call in IT and promote partnerships with faculty in accomplishing your technological goals. The Divisional Liaisons are:
The Divisional Liaisons are for those times when you don't know who to call. If you are currently working with an individual within IT, please continue to contact them directly. We place a high priority on training faculty and students. To this end, IT offers workshops on various software applications. The listing of each semester's offerings can be found on the Training Website. Additionally, these workshops can be modified to be special in-class training sessions for your students. Information Technology conducts a weeklong series of workshops for faculty members only each spring. The Faculty Technology Institute is our way of creating a time dedicated to their individual projects and needs. IT can also help provide the physical resources to incorporate instructional technology into your teaching. We offer classroom support for both media and computing technology. We can help you determine which classroom on campus best meets the technology needs for your course(s). More information on classroom support is available through Instructional Media Services. Looking to communicate with your class more effectively? IT maintains class listservs for every class based on class registration. These listservs are updated nightly. The name of the class listserv is based on the formula: YearSemester-Subject-Number-Section@lclark.edu. (So, the second section of Introduction to Communication that is taught Fall 2002 would be: 02fa-comm-100-02@lclark.edu). Law classes use fl instead of fa for Fall, sl instead of sp for Spring and ul instead of su for Summer. Only members of each listserv can send to or receive from each listserv. To see which listservs you own, to verify that registered students are members of the list or to add members (i.e. a lab assistant), you can visit the Class Listservs web page. There are several pieces of software that may be of special interest to faculty which are available either by site license (meaning that everyone on campus can use it) or is available for use in the Dubach and Watzek computer labs These include:
For information abou any of these software titles, please contact your divisional liaison. In addition to the more generic academic software above, many departments have software that is specific to their discipline--SPSS, Mathematica, ChemDraw, Hyperglaze and Auralia to name a few. Since we can't be expert in all of these, the primary responsibility for supporting these packages lies wth the indivisual faculty members Please remember that Information Technology is here as your partner to help you be successful in integrating technology into your research and teaching.
