Anti-Virus Policy

Overview

Computer viruses can cause significant damage in loss of work and loss of time to the individual directly affected by the virus, the individual's work unit, and possibly the College as a whole. The purpose of this policy is to describe the ways in which "anti-virus" software programs are to be used in an attempt to reduce individual, departmental and College exposure to computer viruses. This policy was created in conjunction with the campus-wide Information Technology Advisory Committee and was approved by the Executive Council of the College in January of 1997.

Policy Statement

Such decisions will be made according to the Information Technology Hardware & Software Support Policy, approved by the Executive Council in April, 1996.sThe cost of acquisition and installation of anti-virus software for College-used computers shall be the responsibility of the department or unit using the computer.
