ISALC's Level 100 Class Spring 2001

This semester we learned a lot of English and had a fun time studying. The students were very active and participated in many events on campus.

Ahmed

I am Ahmed Al-Muhairi. I am 19 years old. I am from the U.A.E.. My native language is Arabic. I came to the U.S.A. to study in the university, but now I am studying English. I like to do many things. I like to go to the movies, play soccer and listen to Arabic and English music. Also, I want to learn how to play some games like tennis, golf and how to ski.

My brother, who is studying engineering, advised me to come to this college because it has a very good program to teach English. I hope you enjoy my small biography.

Fahd

I am Fahd Alshammrei. I am 23 years old. I am from Saudi Arabia. I am studying English at Lewis and Clark College. I want to learn English and return to Saudi Arabia and finish college. I am studying Accounting. I like to play soccer and go running. I enjoy watching movies especially drama films. For summer break I want to go to Las Vegas and win lots of money

There are some interesting sights when I look out the window of my dorm. It is raining. The sky is covered with dark clouds. Several birds are flying across the sky. There is grass next to the hall. The chapel is across from the hall. There are a lot of trees around the chapel. Some lamps are in front of the chapel. There is a squirrel in a tree. An airplane is flying high up in the air. There are some people taking a walk in the rain. It is a beautiful scene. I like it.

I have several hobbies. Soccer is something I do when I need to do exercise. I also like to watch soccer games. Another one of my hobbies is computers. I like to use the Internet and read Arabic newpapers. My favorite hobby is hunting with falcons. I like to see the falcon when he catches a bird. These are all my hobbies. I do them when I have free time.

My name is Khalifa. I am 18 years old. I am from the UAE. My native language is Arabic. I am a student at the ISALC. I like to to many things. The first thing I like to do is fish in my country. The second thing I like to do is play Blackjack with my friends for fun. The third thing I like is exercise. I like to run 2 km. two days a week.

My hobby is listening to music. Many people like music and I do too. Music is loved regardless of age. Music influences me. First, music reduces stress. I sometimes have stress in my life. It is caused by studying. In that case, I listen to music and dance a little bit. I like to listen to popular music when I have stress. I feel that my stress disappears mostly. Secondly, Music makes me feel good. I sometimes have homesickness. I listen to music when I miss my family and my friends. It reduces my homesickness, and I feel better. Music gives many benefits when I am tired in my life. Music gives energy to many people, so it is always loved.

Mohammed

My name is Mohammed. I'm a very ambitious person. First, I always try to learn new things in my job to get more experience. Second, I always try to get a big position in my work. Next, I always get the best grades in my reports from my boss in my job. Finally, I can depend on myself. I am the most ambitious person of my friends in my job.

I am from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. It is a big, nice city. 4,000,000 people live there. It is very hot in the summer, and in the winter it's cold. You can't see anybody walking in the street because they all have cars. It is a very safe city. There is not too much crime. I love my city. I am like a fish. A fish can't live out of the water, and I can't live outside my city.
