The Korean National Soccer Team

The most famous sport in Korea is soccer. In the fever of the World Cup, everybody likes soccer and has a player that we like. To know about the development of Korean soccer, we have to learn about the Korean soccer team.

The history of Korean soccer team is begun with the Joseon Football Association, the former name of Korea. The Joseon Football Association, the first nationwide soccer team, was founded on September 19, 1933. The Korean nation soccer team was reorganized on September 4, 1948. Korea entered the international football arena as an independent nation in 1984 at the Olympics in London, and they played in the World Cup for the first time in 1954 in Switzerland. Later, the Korean national soccer team went to the Mexico, Italy, France, and U.S World Cup. However, we didn’t get a good result. Finally, in the Korea-Japan World Cup, we recorded the Forth team in the world.

The Korean national soccer team (1) is composed of twenty-three players. They used to practice in Wool-San and Je-Judo. They began in the Asian K-league, J-league, and World Cup. K-league is Korean pro soccer associated with big companies such as Samsung and Hyundai. There are about 10 kinds of teams and they hold games each year. The J-league is composed of about 3 different leagues. It is bigger than the K-league. Sometimes, Korean players go to the J-league and play.

The most popular players in Korean national soccer team are Hong myung Bo, Hwang sun hong, and Ahn Jung whan.
Hwang Sun-hong is the one of the most experienced players. He was born in 1968. He was named Most Valuable J League player in 1994, and topped the J League scoring charts. He was also listed in short time for the famous Asian Player of the Year award. Hong Myung Bo is called the best player in Asia. He was born in 1969. Before he was thirty-two years old, he didn’t have any soccer reputation in Korea. He started to get his worldwide recognition when he scored twice in the first round of the 1994 FIFA World Cup USA against Spain and Germany. In 1997, he moved on to Japan’s J League and Belmare Hirasseuka. In 2000, Hong became the first Korean in J-league.Ahn Jung Hwan is born in 1976. He became popular in K league not only because of him outstanding ability but also his handsome feature. Ahn joined Ialian club Perugia. However, he has struggled in Italy to earn a place in the Perugia starting line-up. In Korea, we hosted the 2002 World-cup with Japan. There are some young players who become popular in this World cup. Kim Nam il is a defensive midfielder who has developed under Hiddink. He was born in 1977. It was the first challenge to him and he became famous in Korean young generation.Park Ji Sung is another creative player. He was born in 1981. Like many on the team, Park piles his trade in Japan and made the unusual move of joining Kyoto Purple Sanga directly from high school rather than signing up for either university or a season or two in the K-league. He got a wonderful goal in the fight with Italy.
Cha Du Ri is the son of former Korean international striker Cha Bum Kun who played in the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico and coached the team at France in 1998. He had to fight to emerge out of the shadow of his father. He scored his first international goal against Costa Rica in April 2002. Lee Woon Jae is a Goalkeeper. He was born in 1973. He has been a rival with Kim Byung Ji. But, in 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, he got a good reputation by trusting the Hiddink coach.

The national Korean team coach, Guss Hiddink (2) had a big influence on bringing new players to our soccer team. He was the director of Netherlands pro soccer team, Ajax. At that time, Cha Bum Gum was the Korean national coach and we were beaten by the Netherlands by a score of 5 to 0 in 1998 World Cup. We brought Hiddink to our team in 2001. He was the first foreign coach, and he is very popular in Korea now.

The development of Korean national soccer team is a result of arduous effort and passion for soccer by the players, as well as sharp development of the Korean team by coach Hiddink.

Soccer is the most famous game in the world. Most people in the world love this game. I love soccer also, and I usually watch any soccer game even if it is not my favorite team. I have some favorite team from Europe, but the most favorite team that I really love is Al-Ain team, which is one of the strongest team in the United Arab Emirates.

Al-Ain Soccer Team (1) was established in 1968. After they were established, the Al-Ain team played the first exhibition match with Al- Esmaely team, a visitor from Egypt in 1969. Al-Esmaely team won this match. Then, Al-Ain soccer team played with Sao Paolo team, a famous soccer team from Brazil and it was an exhibition match. Brazil won this match also and that was because Al-Ain soccer team was still new.

Later, Al-Ain soccer team was became a strong team in the United Arab Emirates and other countries. The team played with other soccer teams in the United Arab Emirates and it won many times. the Al-Ain team won the league championship (2) seven times ( 76- 77, 80-81, 92-93, 93-94, 97-98, 99-2000 and 2001- 2002).

In 1987, a league championship was started in Al-Ain. Some soccer teams from different countries came to this championship such as Al-Rayan and Al-Arabi teams from Qatar, and Al-Arafaa Al-Asharqi and Al-Khaleej teams from Bahrain. All these teams were strong; however, not against Al-Ain. Al-Ain was the strongest in the championship, so Al Ain won.

Since Al-Ain was established, many coaches came to train the Al-Ain soccer team. Most of those coaches were so famous and they coached many famous soccer teams. Amiraldo and Nelson from Brazil, Milaninsh from Yugoslavian and others from different countries in the Middle East.

Also, Al-Ain team’s owner signed with some famous players from other countries to play with the Al-Ain team. Abedi Pele (3) who is an African soccer player. he born in 1964 and he is from Ghana. he played in the first time with Ghana Nation team and he was 17 years old. in 1983, he played in Al-Sad team from Qatar and he won the cup, the Prince of Qatar Cup. Abedi Pele played in Europe with some teams. He was playing with French team and won cup many time with French such as the French Cup and European Cup. he came and joined with Al-Ain soccer team in 1998 and he still play with them. he is a good player and he helped Al-Ain to get the cup many times.

Today, Al-Ain soccer team is the strongest team in the United Arab Emirates. Many people love this team, not just Al-Ain’s people(4), but also from another cities in the UAE. Also some countries talk about how Al-Ain soccer team is and how strong it is now.

Now, the subject is what are the differences and similarities between the Korean National soccer team and Al-Ain soccer team.

The first difference between Korean National soccer team and Al-Ain soccer team is the team itself. Korean National soccer team is a national team and they play with other national team from different countries. However, Al-Ain soccer team is a city team , which plays with another city teams from the U.A.E or from different counties.
Another difference between Korean National soccer team and Al-Ain soccer team is the history. Korean National soccer team reorganized in 1948 and they entered the international soccer arena as an independent nation in 1984. However, Al-Ain soccer team was established in 1968 and they played the first game with the Al-Esmaely team from Egypt in 1969.
Also, about players. The most popular players in the Korean National soccer team are Hong myung bo, Hwang sun, and Ahh jung whan. All of them are from Korea. However, the most famous player in Al-Ain soccer team is Abedi Pele, who is from Ghana, not from the United Arab Emirates.
The Korean National soccer team has a famous coach, Guss Hiddink who make the team to be some famous and strong this is the same as Al-Ain, which has Amiraldo, one of the most famous coacher in the world. He also make Al-Ain team to become more strong.

Again, soccer is the most famous game in the world. Most people in the world love this game. Both United Arab Emirate’s people and Korean’s people are really love soccer. Even if there are some difference between them, such as Al-Ain team is not the United Arab Emirates international team, it is a city team; however, Korean team is an international team and play for a World Cup. Never there, both teams are playing soccer and this is the point.
