Basic Necessities
- Digital camera

Class Photo: Process
- Interview a partner
- Write about your partner.
- background, hobbies, interests, family, future goals, etc.
- Save in "text only" format.
Students Take Pictures
- Transfer pictures to computer
- teacher or students
- software provided with camera
- save in "group" folders (easy to find later)

How to Crop & Save your
Picture
- 1. Before you begin, open our "ClassLab" Account.
- 2. Open the folder "Multimedia / Graphic Tools".
- 3. Open "Photoshop". (If it won't open, try again later. Be
sure to quit all other programs you have open.)
- 4. Select "Open" (File menu).
- 5. Find your picture, and open it. (In "Class Pictures F97")
- 6. Select the "Cropping" Tool. (Click & hold the dotted
box on the toolbar. Drag to select the last tool.)
- 7. Make a box around the part of the picture you want.
- 8. Select "Crop" (Image menu).
- 9. When you like your picture, select "Save As". Name it "Your
first name.jpg" (Begin with a capital letter, and make the rest of
your name lower case letters. No spaces. eg. "Greg.jpg")
- 10. Save it in your group folder in "Class Pictures".
- 11. When you are finished, "Quit".

How to "Map" Your Class Picture
(in Claris Home Page)
- 1. Select your class picture. (Click on it.)
- 2. Click on the button "Object Editor" (the wrench)
- 3. In the new window, click on "Image Map Edit"
- 4. With the "rectangle" tool, make a box around one student.
- 5. Type the URL for that student. (e.g. "Ahmed.html")
- 6. Repeat steps 4 & 5 for each person.
- 7. Close the Object Editor, & Save.

Uploading Pages and Pictures to
your UNIX Directory
Using Claris Home Page (Netscape 3 Gold has a similar
system.)
- 1. Open each student's Claris Home Page document (e.g.
"Greg.html"), and the main class picture page.
- 2. Select "Remote - Remote Save" (File Menu).
- 3. Type your Server Name, User Name (your login), UNIX
Password, and Remote Directory (Ask your Tech. Dept.). (The file
name should already be listed.)
- 4. Select "Upload Image Files", and "OK".
- Note: Be sure to make a link from your home page or class page
to the class picture.
Another method: Using "Fetch"
You can use "Fetch" to upload individual files into your UNIX
account. When using Fetch, remember these points:
¥ Transfer a text file as "Text" format.
¥ Transfer a picture file as "Raw Data".
