ACTIVITY TITLE: THE BIG APPLE

SUBJECT AREAS: Geography, History, Art, Social Science, Cartography


YOUR INVESTIGATION:

As a special gift to the graduating class, your PTA has donated the most wonderful gift--a two day trip for the entire class to the fabulous city of New York. You have been selected as the chairperson for the committee to plan the trip. You need to present an itinerary and a map showing the location of the sites you've selected. You need to get in the most sites you can, in the most efficient traveling method, for the time allotted. The committee has also asked that you select sites that are varied in what they offer.


QUESTIONS TO ANSWER:

1. What sites are located in the Midtown area of Manhattan?
   
2. What sites are located in the Upper East Side of Manhattan?
   
3. Can you list these sites in order of the streets they are located on?
4. What do they each offer? (You need a variety, remember?)
   
5. Is there some place that you can write to FOR MORE INFORMATION?
   
6. What streets have traffic restrictions? (obtain a map of NY)
