ACTIVITY TITLE: CASSINI

SUBJECT AREAS: Space Science, Astronomy

YOUR INVESTIGATION:

This is the accomplishment of a lifetime! You are the leader of the team that has created the Cassini, a probe that is making a major contribution to our understanding of the evolution of Earth's atmosphere by studying that of Saturn.
You are about to hold a news conference and report your progress to the world. Thousands of school children wait to hear about the probe that carries their names on a disk into the heavens and to Saturn itself.

QUESTIONS TO GUIDE YOU:

  1. What is the relationship of Saturn to the other planets?
  2. Which of Saturn's features are most notable?
  3. What satellites does it have?
  4. What do we hope to learn as a result of this mission?
  5. What specific tasks will this mission incorporate?
  6. How will what we learn help us to know our own world better?
  7. Where is Cassini now?
