Michael Lorimer, a favorite protege of Andres Segovia, caught the attention of American audiences in the early 1970s through tours arranged by the great impresario Sol Hurok. His popularity soon extended beyond the shores of America. He was the first American guitarist invited to perform in major cities of the USSR in 1975 and was received with such enthusiasm that he was immediately re-engaged for a 1977 tour. He has appeared in Israel, throughout Europe, on most major North American recital series, and with the orchestras of Atlanta, Baltimore, Indianapolis, Louisville, New Orleans and San Francisco.

Lorimer's command of an extensive repertoire is unique. His concerts reflect his enthusiasm for music of many periods and styles and often combine traditional classics, Americana, new music and seventeenth and eighteenth century guitar music performed on a Baroque guitar. In addition to concerts, he gives master classes at North American universities and conservatories from coast to coast. He is an engaging spokesman in demand for experimental programs in arts presentation.

In the television field, USA Public Broadcasting (PBS) has presented a special, "The Artistry of Michael Lorimer", and in publishing, Mel Bay distributes the "Michael Lorimer Edition" which now numbers over twenty volumes.

Aaron Shearer is one of the most highly respected guitar teachers today. His work with the guitar spans more than a half century, and his six-volume series, Classic Guitar Technique, has been in use throughout the world for over thirty years.

Together with Sophocles Papas, Mr. Shearer started the first degree program for the guitar in America at American University in Washington, D.C. He also started similar programs at Catholic University, and the Peabody Conservatory of Music where he taught for sixteen years. Since 1981 Mr. Shearer has directed the guitar program at the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.

The success of Aaron Shearer's teaching is underscored by the considerable number of concert guitarists he has produced, including Manuel Barrueco and David Tannenbaum. The first two volumes of his latest work on guitar instruction, Learning the Classic Guitar, have recently been released by Mel Bay Publications, Inc.

George Sakellariou started to play guitar at an early age in his native Athens, Greece. His first teacher was his brother, a talented composer of popular music, and his formal musical training was at the Conservatory of Music in Athens. After graduating with highest honors, he was invited to further his studies with the renowned guitarist Andres Segovia after the great master heard him play. Upon completion of his studies at the age of 20, Mr. Sakellariou joined the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he became chairman of the Guitar Department.

Mr. Sakellariou has performed around the world in concert halls from the Kennedy Center, and other major halls in the United States, to Singapore, Hong Kong, Turkey, Heidelberg, Rio de Janeiro, Bogota, Montevideo, Toronto, Calgary, Taipei, Osaka, and others. He has made many radio and television appearances including BBC, PBS and Radio France. Several extensive and impressive articles about Mr. Sakellariou have been published in internationally renowned Guitar Player magazine. Currently he has two CDs available: Aires de mi Guitara, and Take Five on Six Strings, with others pending.
